Life at the domain
Michèle and Fred adore Provence. After several years in the Netherlands, they decided to move to France and they settled down in the region. On finding this house they knew they could start to turn their dreams into reality. They set about restoring, renovating and decorating the building in traditional Provençal style.
The enjoyment they derived from hosting guests from all around the world led them to convert part of their house into a luxury guesthouse inn composed of 3 bedrooms and an apartment that can be used as a gîte. Bringing their guests the very best that Provence has to offer is what really motivates Fred and Michèle on a day-to-day basis in their work as hosts.
Outside the high season, the owners serve breakfast at 9am on the east-facing patio. This is the time for guests and owners alike to share in the magnificent spectacle of the rising sun, shining brightly in the freshness of the clear early morning air, bringing the promise of warmth to come with it.
When the sun’s rays become stronger, the breakfast tables are set up on the more shaded side of the house, in front of the grounds. This means you can enjoy your tea, coffee, pastries, fresh bread and home-made preserves whilst still making the most of the coolness of the morning.
Michèle and Fred’s kitchen is the place where guests love to come and chat, perhaps over a glass of wine, about the sights to be explored in the local area.
The dresser in the reception hall at the foot of the stairway is filled with a kaleidoscope of tourism related information, booklets and brochures about Provence’s must-see and do tourist attractions and tours.
The owners will be happy to give you advice on the places worth visiting in the area and the various leisure activities on offer at the time of year in question. They may also suggest day trips and tours tailored specifically to your interests.
They regularly organize outings in a 4×4 Defender Range Rover in the Dentelles de Montmirail, lifting the veil on previously inaccessible places, perfect for a picnic with a difference. Feel free to ask Fred for more details.
The 3 bedrooms and the apartment are non-smoking and are fitted with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and a safe where guests may keep their valuables. The château also has a very large car park meaning there is plenty of space for guests to park their vehicles.
The guesthouse setting is perfect for guests who just want to unwind, relax and enjoy some peace and quiet: the upper floor of the little outbuilding opposite the pool is given over to a small health and beauty centre where you can book a sauna session or a massage. If you would like more information on these facilities, simply ask Fred and Michèle.
In keeping with le Vallon’s vision as a place where guests can rest and relax, the owners have decided to only accept bookings for adult guests, the bedrooms each having just one double bed.
