The Suite or apartment is on the first floor of what used to be the gatekeeper’s house. It is integrated in the main building and offers guests a completely independent lodging experience, including as it does a bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, living room and bathroom. This quite unique, relaxing place is full of character and brings to mind that wonderful ‘luxury lodges’ style of living. It is reached by a wide staircase with tiled steps.
The bedroom is light and roomy and decorated in shades of old rose. It includes a large bed with very elegant bed linen covered in a white ‘boutis’ embroidered quilt. Genuine period Provençal furniture further graces the bedroom: a dressing table and mirror, a large wardrobe and a beautifully carved chest of drawers. To make our guests’ stays as comfortable as possible, the bedroom is fitted with air-conditioning, providing the touch of extra coolness that’s needed during the summer days.
Opposite the bedroom, the bathroom is composed of a large walk-in shower fitted with a little circular window for an original touch, along with 2 lovely white wash-hand basins. Above the basins hang two gorgeous mirrors, marked and darkened by age, bringing an old-tyme charm to this cosy room where time seems to have stood still. The floor is tiled in traditional red tiles (tomettes) contrasting with the white of the bathroom linen that is set out for you: bathrobes, bath towels etc. Special care has been taken in choosing toiletries such as shower, bath and body care products, with products from the very Provençal Occitane en Provence taking pride of place. The toilets are separate and adjoin the bathroom.
The design of the open-plan kitchen is typically South of France in inspiration. It is fitted with top-quality white goods in order to ensure our guests can cater to their every culinary whim: ideal if you’re looking for self catering holidays – whether you want to make a brunch or a romantic dinner, the possibilities are endless! The adjacent small table covered in a delicately-embroidered linen tablecloth is just the spot for enjoying a light meal, bathed in the gentle sunlight that filters through the delicate lace curtains, painstakingly created by Michèle.
You could stop for a moment’s well-deserved relaxation in the spacious living room with its exposed beams. Its red and beige decor makes it great for a siesta or maybe a game of chess. The lush vegetation of the castle grounds forms a seamless whole with the house, its delicate embrace reaching right up to the railings of the French windows. What a delight it is to fling open the curtains and lose yourself in the romantic views over the grounds, the 18th century ornamental fountain in its stone basin, its little stone benches and rose garden. Why not treat yourself to a little stroll amongst Mediterranean cypress trees, roses and lavender to the accompaniment of the relaxing sound of birdsong?
The apartment is designed for holiday rentals for 2 people. Guests have full access to the pool and the castle grounds. The magic of this place may be shared and enjoyed with other guests, safe in the knowledge that you have your own cosy haven of tranquillity to which to retreat should you so wish.
