When the sun is high in the sky and you feel like cooling off, there’s nothing better than being able to make the most of a swim in the Vallon’s swimming pool. Just follow the paving stones which will bring you straight to this much-favoured place. Surrounded by vines and olive trees planted in a raised bed, the swimming pool is the ideal spot for anyone who comes for a holiday to the domaine intending to really enjoy the Provençal climate to the full.
Built in the old wash-house, the pool measures 15 x 4 metres. At one end there is the pool house with its outdoor kitchen. The owners have created a specially-designed area beside the swimming pool for relaxation purposes, with loungers and little tables that are ideal for reading or just lazing around. Bath towels are provided.
The water in the swimming pool is slightly salty – this is a natural way of treating the water which avoids the need to use chemical products that guests may find less pleasant. It also acts as a natural repellent that will keep away the insects with which you’d rather not share your swim.
As the evening draws on, you can prepare a meal in the pool house outdoor kitchen or maybe accompany Fred at wine tasting party or give a hand in making his famous pizzas. The owners have equipped the kitchen with all it needs – a sink, a fridge, a dishwasher, and, naturally, all the tableware you’ll need. The barbecue and the pizza oven in the form of a ‘borie’ (dry-stone hut) will bring hitherto hidden culinary talents to the fore, savour the simple – and simply good – regional products brought back from a stroll around a Provençal market: fougasses (a type of bread), olive oil, tapenade (olive-based hors d’œuvre), Gariguette strawberries, aïoli (garlic-based sauce)…
The corner sofa is ideal for quick siestas in the shade.
